Today, April 22, is Earth Day. Did you know that people have been celebrating Earth Day since 1970? In 1990, the holiday got international recognition; and now over 192 countries do something on April 22nd (or throughout the week) to demonstrate support for environmental protection (Wikipedia).
In celebration of Earth Day, we want to highlight a few products and blog posts that are all about preserving our planet.
Did you know that Americans throw away around 35 billion plastic water bottles each year and that about 75% of these go to landfills where they take up to 1,000 years to degrade (UtahRecycles.org)? By using a reusable water bottle, you can help the environment by reducing the number of disposable plastic water bottles wasted. AromaTools offers glass and stainless steel water bottles that also work well for adding essential oils to your water.
Did you know that even drinking straws can be reusable? Check out these stainless steel drinking straws from AromaTools. Not only do they eliminate the need to buy plastic straws, but they won’t break down when used with essential oils. They work especially well when making lemonade or limeade with essential oils! View our limeade recipe here.
Many hygiene or beauty products contain chemicals such as parabens, pthalates, and triclosan that are not only harmful to our bodies but also can be harmful to the earth and animals. It is important to make sure your body care products are made from all-natural and organic ingredients. AromaTools provides various ingredients that can be used to make your own products and also some products such as deodorant and shower gel that have already been made with organic ingredients. Check out these posts for making your own body care products:
Whether you are using cleaning wipes, baby wipes, or antibacterial hand wipes, these bamboo wipes are a better option. Because the wipes come dry, you can make your own natural formulas and create high quality wipes that are specific to your needs. The bamboo wipes are an environmentally friendly choice because they are made from 100% bamboo fibers and are 100% biodegradable. The bamboo fibers create a very soft wipe that is especially great for sensitive skin (such as a baby’s bottom). Not only are the wipes free of parabens, petrochemicals, sodium lauryl sulfate, fragrances, and bleaching agents, but they are also hypoallergenic and tear resistant. Learn more about these wipes and check out a variety of recipes and ways you can use them in our bamboo wipes post.
Just like body care products, commercial cleaning products also contain chemicals that are poisonous to our bodies and our environment. Learn how to make your own cleaning sprays and cleaning wipes with natural ingredients in glass spray bottles.
