Rosemary & Thyme Patties for a Gourmet Burger

Try these delicious patties for a gourmet take on the average burger. You will love the flavor the essential oils add to these! We enjoyed these patties between toasted whole-wheat buns and topped with our Lemon Apple Slaw and Rosemary Cream Sauce (recipes below as well) along with a tomato slice, some avocado, and a little spinach! Mmmm . . . delicious! You’ll be licking your fingers for sure—and maybe even your plate!

Rosemary & Thyme Burger Patties

Servings: 4–6 | Time: 20–30 minutes | Difficulty: Easy

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 lbs. (680 g) lean ground beef
  • 1 tsp. (5 ml) soy sauce
  • 1 tsp. (5 ml) Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced, or 1 tsp. (3 g) garlic powder
  • 1 tsp. (0.5 g) dried parsley
  • 1/2 cup (55 g) shredded colby, monterey jack, or pepper jack cheese
  • 2 drops rosemary essential oil
  • 2 drops thyme essential oil
  • 1 drop basil essential oil
  • 1 drop oregano essential oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your grill to high heat.
  2. In a large bowl, mix all ingredients together with clean hands. Form into 4–6 patties.
  3. Put the patties on a plate, and press them as thin as you can while they can still hold their shape.
  4. Grill patties for 5 minutes per side on the hot grill, or until done to your preference.
  5. Serve on buns with your favorite condiments. We really enjoyed our burgers with spinach, tomato, avocado, Lemon Apple Slaw (recipe below), and Rosemary Cream Sauce (recipe below).

Lemon Apple Slaw

Servings: 4–6 | Time: 10 minutes | Difficulty: Easy

Ingredients:

  • 3 green apples, peeled and grated
  • 1 cup (70 g) thinly chopped purple cabbage
  • 2 tsp. (10 ml) extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 Tbsp. (15 ml) fresh lemon juice
  • 2 drops lemon essential oil
  • 1/4 tsp. (1.5 g) salt

Instructions:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a medium bowl, and chill in the fridge.
  2. Serve on top of your Rosemary & Thyme Burger Patties.

Rosemary Cream Sauce

Servings: 4–6 | Time: 5 minutes | Difficulty: Easy

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) sour cream
  • 2 Tbsp. (6 g) chopped fresh chives or green onions
  • 1–2 toothpicks rosemary essential oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. In a small bowl, combine ingredients to make the creamy spread. Chill in the fridge until ready to serve with the Rosemary & Thyme Burger Patties.
