Geranium essential oil is steam distilled from the leaves of Pelargonium graveolens. It has a calming, uplifting, and flowery scent.
Geranium is know to be antibacterial, anticonvulsant, antidepressant, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, astringent, diuretic, insect repellent, refreshing, relaxing, sedative, and tonic.
Historically, geranium has been used for dysentery, hemorrhoids, inflammation, heavy menstrual flow, bone fractures, tumors, wounds, and possibly even cancer (according to folktale).
The French use geranium to help with diabetes, diarrhea, gallbladder issues, gastric ulcers, jaundice, sterility, and more.
Other possible uses for geranium include helping support the body when dealing with acne, bleeding, burns, circulatory problems, depression, digestion, eczema, hormonal imbalance, insomnia, neuralgia, shingles, ringworm, etc.
Aromatically, geranium is said to help release negative memories and take a person back to peaceful, joyful moments.
