DIY Scented Beeswax Candles

Candles make great decorations and can provide a lovely scent in your home! We brought this post back from the archives to show you just how easy it is to make your own scented candles.

Have you been looking for a cute decoration idea? Well, we have a great one for you! This homemade beeswax candle smells amazing, is made of all natural ingredients, and is so easy to make.

Select your candle mold(s) based on the size and shape you want your candle(s) to be. You can purchase candle molds, or you can easily make your own out of common household items like a polycarbonate sheet. Cardboard containers work best, just lightly spray the inside of the container first with cooking spray so that you will be able to remove your candle easily.

Fill your candle mold(s) with beeswax pellets a little higher than you want your finished candle (enough to compensate for the air space between the pellets). Pour the beeswax into a Pyrex glass measuring cup, and place it in a sauce pan filled halfway with boiling water. Stir the beeswax occasionally until it is fully melted.

While your beeswax is melting, prepare your candle molds.  Attach the candle wick to the bottom center of the mold with a piece of scotch tape, and then wrap the candle wick around a pencil and balance it on top of the mold, using additional tape to hold the pencil in place if necessary.

Once the beeswax is fully melted, remove the glass measuring cup from the stove, and add drops of essential oil until you reach your desired level of smell. Pour the beeswax into your candle mold(s), and then set it aside to dry.

When your candle is fully cooled and solid, remove the candle from the mold. If you made your own mold, you can just tear/cut the cardboard off. Trim the candle wick to your desired length.

To make your candle into a fun decoration, fill a glass vase or candle holder partway with dried split peas, and then place your candle on top.
