Vinyl Sign Application Instructions

Use these instructions to successfully apply your vinyl label to tile, wood, walls, windows, mirrors, doors, tables, glasses, water bottles, or any other surface your imagination desires!

Applying Your Vinyl Labels to Cups and Glasses — Applying Your Vinyl Labels to Flat Surfaces

Instructions for Applying to Glasses, Cups and Other Cylindrical Surfaces

Materials Needed:

Stiff plastic card (such as a credit card) or squeegee: to help the vinyl stick to the correct surfaces.
Scissors: to cut the paper around the vinyl to the correct size if it is larger than the receiving surface.

Instructions:

	Check the surface that you are applying the vinyl to in order to make sure it is clean and clear of dust and dirt. The vinyl label is sandwiched between two different papers. The bottom of the vinyl is on a heavy coated paper. The top of the vinyl is covered with a transparent sticky paper that temporarily holds the vinyl letters in place while transferring.
	Place the vinyl label on a flat surface face up. Use a stiff plastic card or squeegee to firmly rub the entire surface of the lable. This will allow the vinyl label to adhere to the sticky paper on top of the vinyl letters. DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP!!
	Flip the vinyl label upside down.
	CAREFULLY peel back the heavy coated paper away from the vinyl and sticky paper. Make sure as you peel that the vinyl stayes with the transparent sticky paper and doesn't peel away with the heavy coated backing paper. If they do, re-cover the area with the heavy coated backing paper, and firmly rub the surface over the area with the corner of your stiff plastic card or squeegee. Repeat as necessary until the entire sheet of heavy coated backing paper is removed.
	Pick the label up so that you are holding an edge of the label in each hand and the letters are underneath the clear sticky paper. Position the label over the surface until it is in the desired location. Be careful not to touch the vinyl onto the surface until it is in the correct position, because it will stick to the surface as soon as it touches it. Once the label is in the correct location, pull the sides taught so the label is flat, and carefully place the label onto the glass surface. For best results, place the middle of the label onto the surface first, then work towards the edges.
	With the label in position, firmly rub the entire top surface of the label with the stiff plastic card or squeegee to ensure that the vinyl is firmly sticking to the surface below.
	CAREFULLY begin peeling the sticky paper away from the surface and the vinyl. Again, make sure that the vinyl letters to not peel away with the sticky paper. If they do, re-cover the letter with the sticky paper, and firmly rub the surface over the letter with the corner of your stiff plastic card or squeegee. Repeat as necessary until the entire sheet of sticky paper is removed and the vinyl letters are well adhered to the surface.

Instructions for Applying to Flat Surfaces

Materials Needed:

Ruler, level & straight-edge: to ensure the label is aligned correctly on the surface.
Credit card or squeegee: to help the vinyl stick to the correct surfaces.
Masking or painter's tape: to help hold the label in place while transferring.
Scissors: to cut the paper around the vinyl to the correct size if it is larger than the receiving surface.

Instructions:

	Check the surface that you are applying the vinyl to in order to make sure it is clean and clear of dust and dirt. The vinyl label is sandwiched between two different papers. The bottom of the vinyl is on a heavy coated paper. The top of the vinyl is covered with a transluscent sticky paper that temporarily holds the vinyl letters in place while transferring. Check to make sure that the vinyl label will fit on the surface you are applying it to. If the paper surrounding the vinyl is bigger than the surface, it is easiest if you cut the paper to size.
	Use a credit card or squeegee to firmly rub the entire surface so the vinyl will adhere to the sticky paper on top of the vinyl letters. DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP!!
	Place the label on the surface face up (so you can see the letters through the transluscent sticky paper). If desired, use a ruler, level and/or straight-edge to ensure that the label is properly aligned on the surface.
	Using masking tape (or painter's tape if applying to a recently painted surface), securely tape the label in position along the entire length of the label's top edge (so that half the tape is on the paper, and half is on the tile). Double check that the letters are where you would like them to be on the surface. If not, adjust the label accordingly.
	Flip the vinyl label along the taped edge so that you can now see the bottom of the heavy coated paper beneath the vinyl.
	Starting with the edge closest to the tape, CAREFULLY begin to peel back the heavy coated paper away from the vinyl and sticky paper.
/	If you notice any of the letters sticking to the heavy coated paper, roll the heavy coated paper back into place over the letter and rub over the letter so that it better adheres to the sticky paper. Carefully peel back the heavy coated paper again, making sure that the letter is now sticking to the sticky paper. Repeat this process as often as necessary until the entire heavy coated paper has been removed.
	Holding the edge of the label farthest away from the tape, carefully flip the label back over towards the surface. It may help to hold onto the tape with one hand and pull the opposite edge firmly while carefully lowering the label towards the surface to ensure that the vinyl comes in contact with the surface in the correct location (the vinyl will now stick to whatever surface it touches with the heavy coated paper removed, so make sure it comes down in the correct location).
	With the label in position, firmly rub the entire top surface of the label with a credit card or squeegee to ensure that the vinyl is firmly sticking to the surface below.
	CAREFULLY begin peeling the sticky paper away from the surface and the vinyl. Again, make sure that the vinyl letters to not peel away with the sticky paper. If they do, re-cover the letter with the sticky paper, and firmly rub the surface over the letter with the corner of your credit card or squeegee. Repeat as necessary until the entire sheet of sticky paper is removed and the vinyl letters are well adhered to the surface.
